We all do things that others may consider as spoiling your dog or cat. Some may even admit the things they do to spoil their pets are over the top or even crazy. Yes, as pet parents we are guilty of spoiling our dogs and cats. We do these things regularly out of our love for our fur-babies. We really don’t think twice about them.
I too am guilty of this. If you don’t believe me ask my husband. He will probably point out a laundry list of the things I do daily spoiling our dogs. I wouldn’t put it past him to then add in a comment about how nice it would be if I would massage him even a tenth of the time I spend petting our girls daily.
Below are the top three things I do on a daily basis spoiling Beatrice and Florence.
- Even though we have a house with a yard and not 1 but 3 custom doggy doors to accommodate Beatrice’s width, I walk my dogs out to the yard every morning after we get up to take them out to pee. I’ve conditioned them so well with this morning routine that they won’t go out on their own to take care of their business. Â
Our English Bulldog, Beatrice, loves car rides so much that I take Beatrice and Florence for a short daily car ride without fail. Never mind that she weighs nearly half my weight and I have to pick her up to put her in the car and to take her out at the expense of my own back. (Florence thank you for only weighing around 25 lbs.)                                        -  So Beatrice and Florence never have to look too far for a cozy place to plop down, I have dog beds all over our house and my office. On the off chance something should happen to one of their beds, I have an extra supply waiting to be used.
The above is really just the beginning of my list of things I do spoiling our dogs. Beatrice and Florence have more toys than they know what to do with them. Since they have sensitive stomachs I feed them 4 times a day instead of 2 times a day. I have the luxury of working from home so I rarely leave them. When I am gone extended hours with my husband, I hire a dog walker from my business, Rufus and Delilah, to come over for a walk and playtime. I give them a daily treat even if I don’t make them work for it.Â
I do these things spoiling our dogs out of my love for them. They are not just my dogs, they are my kids. It is because I can be so over the top with my fur-babies that I pride myself on knowing what other pet parents are looking for when they need to hire a sitter to care for their dogs or cats.
A few of the funny things I’ve seen when pet sitting and dog walking spoiling dogs and cats are giving them bottled Fiji water, dressing their pets, brushing their cat for an hour daily, having a dedicated bedroom that is for their dogs or cats, taking their dog outside in the middle of the night every night for a potty break even though the dog is potty trained, buying designer collars for their pets to wear, and cooking and putting together elaborate meals.Â

We have multiple dog beds also. However, most of our dog beds also have dog bed heaters. I realized the other day that we have more dog beds in our house then we have chairs! I guess that is what happens when animal rescue is a major part of your life.
Love that you wrote you have more dog beds in your house than you have chairs. We have dog beds all over our house. I haven’t seen a dog bed before that has a heater. I will be on the lookout for that.
I bought an Italian made cashmere sweater for my dog.
That’s definitely one way to spoil hour dog. We sure hope he likes the Italian made cashmere sweater.
